This was a crazy week, but the good kind of crazy, like you can´t believe that everything that just happened was within 7 days.
It rained REALLY hard EVERY day. I have never seen this much rain in my life. There were a couple of times when it felt like Jumanji. The family we met a couple of weeks back, Family Medina, there isn't an animal that the kids can't or don't catch. Last weekend they caught a baby crocodile in the river. Cute pet as long as someone else is holding him. With all this rain we had, almost every street in the Bajo was at least up to your ankles with water and the street Medina lives on is past knee high. The Jumanji part is after we left them on Tuesday, Coco the crocodile escaped and he swam right past us. And yes, I screamed a little. And no he didn´t bite us. And yes Elder Barate laughed at me, till he saw Coco catch a chicken!
We found a man the other day named Alberto. He was working on his house and so Barate and I rolled up our sleeves (so to speak, long sleeves are suicide here) and helped him hang a door. Of course afterwords he was more than willing to listen to our message. He told us that he was recently released from prison and that the night before he had prayed and asked God for help getting his life back on track. He said "I know you two are here because of that prayer. What do I need to do?" The most impressive thing is that he came Sunday with his family.
The Family Aguilar is the VERY big family that is completely inactive and the grandma wants her granddaughter baptized. There are 11 kids plus their spouses and about 60 grandkids. Huge family. Saturday night we had a family home evening with about a quarter of the clan. 25 people. We had a very powerful lesson on obedience and faith and the spirit there was amazing. On Sunday we had about 90 people in Sacrament meeting. 37 were Aguilars. The granddaughter, Jeanet, will be baptized this Saturday.
Another person we found is Maria. 14 years ago she was just about ready to be baptized and she moved to run away from her husband. She told us that she had been waiting for the missionaries to find her again. Because of the injuries from her husband she pretty much can´t use the right side of her body so she doesn´t leave the house much. A friend of hers has a horse and cart so he brought her and her daughters to church this Sunday.
We were sooooooooooooooo blessed this week.
