Email 12/8/08

This week was a bit more...difficult. Our main problem was that today is a holiday, in fact the biggest Paraguayan holiday, Guai Ku Pai (I think that´s how you spell it, no promises) and people were VERY hard to find this week and we were down to one investigator at church, the grandkid of Hna. Aguilar. Ugh. But we had some good stuff this week. A couple of times when we´ve been teaching the Cuyos, one of their nieces has been there, about 14 years old. We were just wandering around on Wednesday, ALL of our appointments had dropped and we ran into her. She told us that her mom was interested so we ran over as fast as we could, so to speak. The mom is Mabel Cuyo´s sister, her name´s Ana, and the daughter that found us is Mariana (That is the most COMMON female name here. It makes it hard at times). They are probably the most spiritually prepared people we´ve met. Mariana had read all of 1st and 2nd Nephi and Jacob out of the Cuyo´s Book of Mormon and asked us if we could lend her one because she had started Enos and wanted to finish. It was another of those Batman moments. Outwardly, This book is yours to keep; Inwardly, YES YES WHOOHOO. And Ana is just as ready. Because of the holiday they didn´t come but they´re gonna come next week. The other really cool thing is yesterday we were clapping houses (doorbells do NOT exist, when you go to a house you clap loudly outside the front gate and someone will come out. Go figure) and no one answered this one house but when we were about to try the next the guy who lived the pulled up. "Are you looking for me?" And I go "We´re looking for someone who´d like to hear about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Do you have a few minutes?" What commenced was probably the most spiritual lesson I´ve really been apart of. Wight and I taught so well together, flowed from one word to the next. The guy, Dani, was absolutley eating up every word. We gave him a book of Mormon and he told us that he had a couple of hours free, where would be a good place to start reading. It was phenomenal. I know number wise it wasn´t the best of weeks but it was so good spiritually.
